The Importance of a Unique web-page-address
IMPORTANT: The web-page-address is used to navigate to pages on the website. Each category and item web-page-address needs to be unique, or the link will not work correctly.
99.99% of the time, when a link doesn't work, or goes to the wrong page, it's because the web-page-address is set up incorrectly. Avoid navigation errors by learning how to set a unique web-page-address.
Site Organization: Categories and Items/Products
Generally, categories are used as a container for items/products. Each item/product is added to the appropriate category. If a category has lots of items, you may want to add subcategories, then add the items/products to the appropriate subcategory.
Before you start adding content to your Site Manager, take a few minutes to think about how you want to organize your site.
The category and item/product structure will look something like this:

NOTE: Don't over-categorize. The more subcategories, the more clicks it takes for the site visitor to access the information he or she is looking for.
Managing Your Main Categories
Your MightyMerchant website includes a number of preset main categories that include features and layouts based on the type of content. Each category or item/product will includes fields used for its functionality and layout.
For most categories, you will add your content as items in the category. For others, you will only edit categories.

- Product Catalog
All products should be located in a subcategory under this category.
- Gift Certificates
Gift certificates are purchased through the site and provide a code to use during the checkout process. Gift certificates can be set up for set amounts or you can allow your customers to choose an amount.
- Links
For links to other sites. Includes an optional form that allows site visitors to submit their link for inclusion on the site (subject to your approval).
- Announcements
May be used for home page announcements.
- FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions. Tip: A good way to organize your FAQ section is to up subcategories for topics such as Ordering FAQs, Product FAQs, Customer Service FAQs, etc.
- Testimonials
For customer testimonials. Includes an optional form that allows site visitors to submit their testimonial for inclusion on the site (subject to your approval).
- Product Reviews
Star-rated product reviews. Product reviews are submitted on the product detail page for inclusion on the site (subject to your approval). Reviews for particular products display on the product detail page of that product. Note: It is important not to hide the Product Reviews category, or the reviews will not display.
- MightyMerchant Blog
The MightyMerchant blog allows site visitors to comment on postings. Comments are managed through a 3rd party program called Disqus.
- Social Media
- Events
Can be set up with Month/Year subcategories. Can also embed a Google Calendar.
- Services
Ideal for highlighting services. Option for displaying a price, but these items are not added to the cart.
- Portfolio
A variety of image galleries to choose from.
- General Info
This category is for text-heavy pages.
- Home > Home Page Slideshow
For your home page slider. Images can be included with or without a caption overlay. See Info Specific to Your Site (above) for sizing details.
- Home > Home Page Callouts
Can be used to feature a variety of information on your home page. See your Site Specific Instructions.
Content is contained only in the category
- Coming Soon
This is a page that will display during development of the site if you're not logged into the Site Manager. Edit the category (click directly on the category name) to add what you would like to display on this page. If you don't enter anything, the default display will be "Coming Soon".
